Build a Dream’s Dreamer Day Breakfast

Build a Dream will host their second annual Dreamer Day breakfast on October 11, 2019. The event will take place on International Day of the Girl, and honours the contributions of community members who promote workforce diversity and inclusion. The event will feature awards with nominations coming from the community. In addition to the awards, a panel of female professionals will share insight on topics like business development and workforce inclusivity.

The Dreamer Award will be given to two young women between the ages of 7 and 17 and includes $500 for their career development. The Dream Maker Award will be given to a male and a female champion who support workplace diversity and work to advance women in society. The Dream Creator Award will be given to an organization that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the community. Individuals can visit to make a nomination.

The event will be moderated by Helga Reidel, President and CEO of Enwin. Panelists include Radha Patel, Student Recruitment Officer at the University of Windsor, Jenna Wood, Director of Human Resources at Aecon, and Alyssa Space, Founder of ForHerCosmetics.

“We are investing in the future of young women. We are not only trying to change perceptions but we are trying to change mindsets. Gender should not be part of the decision-making when it comes to careers,” says Nour Hachem-Fawaz, President of Build a Dream. “We want young women to make informed career choices and we do that by motivating and inspiring them to seek out all opportunities available to them.”

The City of Windsor will officially proclaim October 11 as Dreamer Day. All event guests can walk to City Hall Square after breakfast to see the Build a Dream flag being raised.

Cost: $35 per ticket or Tables of 10 for $350
