Storm Flooding Tops the Top Ten for 4th Quarter

The fourth quarter of 2016 saw storm flooding take over the top spot for quarterly service requests calls into 311 in 2016.

The unusually high volume of flooding calls was due to the severe weather event that hit Windsor on September 28, 2016, which forced a state of emergency call from Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Over 1,100 calls came in to 311 on the days following the event, and those were in addition to the 1,900 calls that came in before the end of September.

“That was a 1 in 100 year storm that overwhelmed our infrastructure,” said City Engineer Mark Winterton. “But we do have programs in place that could have helped many families avoid damage, and we continue to encourage those families to visit our flooding web pages, and educate themselves on the prevention possibilities and flooding abatement subsidies the City offers to help.”
