Advance Business Systems 34th Annual Thanksgiving Day Football Classic 2025

Advance Business Systems held its 34th annual Thanksgiving Football Classic on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the esteemed Windsor Yacht Club with hundreds in attendance.

What began as a Customer Appreciation event has transformed into Southwestern Ontario’s premier networking occasion. The event was hosted by Advance Business Systems President Mike Burnett and included beverage tastings by Wolfhead Distillery and Walkerville Brewery, a cigar/scotch tent, raffle prizes, a squares game, door prizes, tailgating food items and of course, watching the Detroit Lions play the Green Bay Packers!

“The response this year has been nothing short of incredible; we’re once again at full capacity and we’re thrilled to spend another member day celebrating with our guests,” states Burnett who also thanks all sponsors, suppliers, the yacht club team and his staff at Advance Business Systems.

For over three decades, Advance Business Systems has consistently selected local children-focused charities as the beneficiary for the event, directing 100% of the proceeds to the selected cause. This year funds raised go to the United Way Windsor/Essex and Chatham Kent Ignite Academy which supports local kids in grades 2 to 7 in priority neighbourhoods.

Past beneficiaries include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Sparky’s Toy Drive, Children’s First, Family Respite Services, the Children’s Aid Society Youth Advisory Committee, Farrow Riverside Miracle Park, John McGivney Children’s Centre, and many others.

To date, this impactful event has raised more than $500,000 for various community initiatives.

Biz X Was There – Seventh Anniversary 2025 Celebrity Men Fashion Event for The Kidney Foundation

The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Windsor and District, 2025 Celebrity Men Fashion Event took place Thursday, May 22, 2025, raising over $25,000, and still counting, for the local chapter, with 180 guests in attendance. In addition to the fashion show, the evening included mixing and mingling, delicious hors d’oeuvres, raffles, a live and silent auction — and the famous opening of the spirit chest! 

Alexa Monaco also sang an amazing selection of contemporary songs in the VIP section.

Hosts Michelle Mainwaring (Windsor actress) and Matthew Rutherford (Afternoon Host of Virgin Radio 93.9), kept the crowd in stitches throughout the evening, as did the models with their interesting dance
moves (LOL!)

The event was hosted by Advance Business Systems President Mike Burnett and CEO Jack Jorgensen, and included sushi from Salt Sushi, beverage tastings by Vin Winery and Walkerville Brewery, a cigar/scotch tent, raffle prizes, squares games, auction items, tailgating food items and of course, watching the Detroit Lions win against the Chicago Bears!

This time around the networking event supported Fight Like Mason Foundation’s efforts, specifically the Mason Power Pole program & the Boost Box Program. The Boost Box is the newest addition to the Fight Like Mason support programs that sends unique support boxes to newly diagnosed children as a premium “starter” kit to brighten spirits.

Biz X Was There – Motor City Community Credit Union Opens New Branch Office

On Monday September 16, 2024 the Motor City Community Credit Union (MCCCU) opened its doors to its members at their new 1365 Walker Road location.

The location establishes a new Southeast cornerstone in the Walkerville area and welcomes its members and local residents to visit us and learn why MCCCU should be their financial institution of choice.

Whereas the September opening was low key, on Thursday Oct 17, 2024 in the early evening hours a ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening party took place, with refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.

Local suppliers on the project include: Wincon Construction, Windsor Poirier and Sfera Architectural Associates Inc. Signage work was completed by FASTSIGNS of Windsor.

In this era where the financial service industry is shrinking its staff and brick and mortar footprint, MCCCU, a local 85+ year financial services provider is offering its members and the community a brand new modern facility with traditional banking complementing electronic and mobile banking options. Biz X Was There – Sixth Anniversary Celebrity Men Fashion Event for The Kidney Foundation

The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Windsor and District, Celebrity Men Fashion Event took place Thursday, May 23, 2024 raising over $53,000 for the local chapter with 160 guests in attendance.

In addition to the fashion show, the evening included mixing and mingling, delicious hors d’oeuvres, raffles, a live and silent auction — and the famous opening of the wine chest! Lexa Monaco also sang an amazing selection of contemporary songs in the VIP section.

Hosts Michelle Mainwaring (Windsor actress) and Chris Byrne kept the crowd in stitches throughout the evening as did the models with their interesting dance moves (LOL!)
