This is the 10th Annual Lois Fairley Nursing Award

It’s time again to recognize the Windsor-Essex County Nurse of the Year with the Lois Fairley Nursing Award from the many dedicated and wonderful nurses who make a difference every day with their patients in our community. The award is now a tradition that encourages all the nurses that they are valued. If you, or a loved one, have ever needed nursing care in a hospital, at home or through our public health nurses, you know the difference that an outstanding nurse makes with patients and their families. The award is selected and given by the Windsor-Essex chapter of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) from nominations received from the public. The nomination process is easy:

In 500 words or less tell us a story about how a nurse impacted a life of a patient, family or their workplace.

Entries must be received by Monday, April 17th at 5 pm.
The 10th Annual Award Presentation will take place the last week in April.

The award was named for Lois Fairley, a graduate of Grace Hospital’s nursing program in 1955 who spent her career serving patients at Grace Hospital as a nurse and head nurse. She also served the nursing profession as a member of the Provincial Board of Directors of RNAO and served as President of the Ontario Nurses Association. Lois passed away in 2007, and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario instituted this award for Windsor Essex in 2008.

Deborah Jones and her team at Biz X Magazine work so incredibly hard to produce each issue and their November / December Awards 2024 issue is fantastic! So happy to see that Erie Street Woodworks won in their Woodworking Wonders category. There were 196 nominees this year and I have no idea how Deborah and the team of judges were able to choose between all of the talented nominees.

Deborah and the Biz X team are not only a group of people who work together, they are the spirit of Windsor's community, business essence and bringing social awareness. As a new member of this beautiful city, it was through Biz X magazine that I learned who is who and where is where. I attended their 25th Anniversary Gala in 2022 and what a fantastic evening. Everything, from the sparkling decor, glam photos, entertainment, guest speakers and our own Windsor fire department fundraising for Sparky's Toy Drive, was a true celebration.
