The Revolution Youth Theatre is presenting a modern language version of the stage play set in a dark, post-apocalyptic future, Macbeth

The Revolution Youth Theatre (RYT) is a not for profit charity offering youth in Windsor the opportunity to experience the thrill of being part of a theatre company. RYT guides them from conception straight through to closing night.

After presenting many shows such as the Variety Show, Peter and Wendy and I Hate Shakespeare, the RYT has been rehearsing for months to perform Macbeth.

“I’ve watched what directors have had to do in other scenarios and what their position entails,” says Teagan Smallhorn, a 17-year-old directing the play Macbeth. “It defiantly intrigued my interest to be behind the scenes for a change.”

“What’s done cannot be undone.”  ― William Shakespeare, Macbeth

As many of our Windsorites love the spotlight, the RCT has a varying range of talent from eight to 21. The team places emphasis on the entire process from beginning until end as those in the play are encouraged to learn about different aspects of theatre such as back stage crew, lighting and onstage performances.

“The updated version of the play is a lot easier to read,” says Connor Cullen a 19-year-old University of Windsor student playing Macbeth. “It pertains more to the general audience of today and it’s easier to understand.”

Not only has the team been able to learn the ropes of performing but everyone who auditions gets a part in the production so nobody is left out, regardless of how well they can act.
