In Honour of the Ones We Love held its “18th Annual Gala Dinner” fundraiser at the Ciociaro Club, February 6, 2016.

The evening featured champagne and hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Koolini Catering followed by a delicious gourmet dinner, martini bar, silent auction, and raffle items to benefit WRH Ronald McDonald House. The CIAO band played afterwards so everyone could enjoy a bit of dancing. Each year this annual event pays tribute to individuals who have lost their battle with cancer. This year’s honourees are Tony Catalano, John Meloche, Roger Salter, Maiysn Spencer, and Ivan Janes. A moving candle lighting ceremony, along with a tribute video, is a key element of this event and offered guests a chance to reflect on their collective losses and our relentless determination to support those coping with the devastating consequences of these life threatening illnesses. The Master of Ceremonies were Arms Bumanlag of CTV Windsor News, AM 800 (and a Biz X columnist) and Stefanie Masotti of  CTV Windsor News. This gala also featured the prestigious Hand and Hand award presented annually to a member of the community who, over time, has had a significant impact on the success of In Honour of the Ones We Love. This year’s recipient is Mimmo Casagrande Bei of Koolini who has been involved with the organization throughout the years and has been a devoted and dedicated supporter. The Community Recognition award is presented to an individual whose friendship, belief and support of In Honour over the years has contributed to the success of our event and projects for the community. This year’s recipient is John Fairley, Vice President of Communications of St. Clair College. The Above and Beyond Award is presented to individuals with a generous heart who are there for us at all times. This year’s award recipients are Cathy Hendy and Dan Castellan.
