Respect Forum Windsor Attended By Front Line Responders
Various front line responders from Windsor and Essex County gathered at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 to take part in roundtable discussions addressing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
The Respect Forum Canada-wide presentations are designed for Canada’s military veterans, emergency first responders, and all levels of government; for mental health care-providers, social service agencies, and peer support organizations that serve vulnerable “at risk” populations experiencing the complexities of PTSD.
Lieutenant-Colonel (retired) Morris Brause; Southwestern Ontario Facilitator presented the forum where participants, representing various service agencies from Windsor and Essex County, accessed multi-level resources from community-based shareholders who have developed revalent ecosystem-level approaches to identify and to respond to crisis situations recognized as post traumatic stress disorder.
“PTSD not only affects a quality of life for individuals experiencing crisis in their lives but their families and their friends, their peers in the workplace and a community can also be impacted,” says Brause.
Networking with community-based partners (through education platforms such as Respect Canada forums) serves to leverage awareness of PTSD – how to apply the best approach to serve individuals who are struggling and often just don’t know what to do next – where to turn to.”
