ON LOCATION WITH BIZ X – PREPARING FOR THE RUTHVEN APPLE FESTIVAL
In the air, on land, Biz X is everywhere! In this installment, the apple of our eye is the Ruthven Apple Festival celebrating 45 years in 2024.
For many in Essex County, September isn’t complete without a visit to the Ruthven Apple Festival. Hosted by Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens, 1550 Road 3 E in Kingsville, the festival celebrates the bounty of the county and all it has to offer.
This year the event takes place on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2024.
From fresh-picked apples and locally grown produce at the Farmers’ Market to live, all-day entertainment, handmade arts and crafts from over 120 vendors, the Sunday Classic Car Show, and a variety of food vendors, there’s something for everyone.
Check our interviews in the video footage here with Karen Bolger, Executive Director, Community Living Essex County; Dawn Dupuis, Owner/Operator, Momma Bear’s Bakery in Kingsville and Terry Colasanti, Chair of the Ruthven Apple Festival Steering Committee and owner of Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens . .. .
Since its establishment in 1979 on Ruthven’s main street, the festival has raised over $1 million in support of Community Living Essex County, an organization that helps children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities live full, meaningful lives in community.
The proceeds are used each year for the maintenance and purchase of wheelchair-accessible vehicles, which assist people supported by Community Living Essex County with transportation to appointments, volunteer opportunities, community events, and resources.
By attending, you’re not just enjoying a great fall event—you’re helping support an organization dedicated to fostering inclusion and accessibility.
Make the Ruthven Apple Festival a fall tradition for your family!
