Art in the Park Announces Plans Embraces Weather Challenges. Art in the Park – Rain or Shine.

With only a month to go, plans for the 38th annual Art in the Park, held at Willistead Park June 4th & 5th, are well underway with lots of NEW to enhance the traditional.

“Every year the Art in the Park jury committee strives to attract the best artists and artisans from around Ontario and Quebec. We are proud to say that this year we will be presenting 276 artists and artisans with more than 50 brand new exhibitors working in a variety of media for the enjoyment of our visitors” – Colleen Mitchell, Chair of the Art in the Park Committee.

Art in the Park continues to offer something for everyone. Our Spirit Tent offers delectable dishes from local restaurants, specialty cocktails and imported wines from Hiram Walker & Sons Limited, local wines from Cooper’s Hawk and Sprucewood Shores, cold beer from Walkerville Brewery and a stage featuring a variety of local talent.

This year, our Kids’ Zone will feature inflatables, mini putt, face painting and Cinderella and Super Hero photo shoots. There will be scheduled story times from the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) Literacy Committee, live sing song entertainment and Lego play. High Jinks will have their large tent with a toddler soft floor, water play, and an art contest for children 2-13 years old. A baby change and nursing tent will be available again this year.

Back by popular demand is a Bike Valet service, sponsored by Caesars Windsor, and organized and staffed by volunteers of Bike Friendly Windsor-Essex.

Along with our great exhibitors, Willistead Manor will feature displays, performances and activities provided by many local arts organizations and collectives. This year’s line-up includes The Artists of Colour, Sho Art, Spirit and Performance, Levigator Press and more!

While Art in the Park is the unofficial start of summer, it has the dubious reputation of “that’s the weekend it rains”! So instead of avoiding what can be inevitable, this year we are embracing it with our new campaign of “Art in the Park – Rain or Shine”. The new paved pathways allow better access for all – without the mud – especially for those with mobility issues.
