On May 5, the Heart and Stroke Foundation Windsor Essex is celebrating the support of Caesars Windsor and their generous donation of $3,500 to the Foundation for the placement of an AED at the Capitol Theatre. This donation was made through the Heart and Stroke Foundations AED program in conjunction with the Windsor Public Access Defibrillator program.

Recognizing the importance of having AED’s on site Caesars Windsor chose to contribute to their community in meaningful way that will help the Heart and Stroke Foundation create more survivors. Caesars Windsor Security department with their hands on experience using these devices and are excellent ambassadors for this program.

According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, approximately 40,000 Canadians experience sudden cardiac arrest each year, the majority of which occur either at home or in public places. For every minute that passes without help, a person’s chance of surviving a cardiac arrest drops by seven to 10 percent.

However, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with the use of an AED before the arrival of Emergency Medical Services can double the chance of survival.
