St. Clair College Hosts 25th Annual Alumni of Distinction Awards

St. Clair College will be hosting the 25th Annual Alumni of Distinction Awards April 26 at 6:15 p.m. A ceremony will be held at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts to honour six new Alumni of Distinction recipients in the areas of Recent Graduate, Health Sciences, Business & Information Technology, Skilled Trades, Media, Art & Design, and Community Studies.

St. Clair College alumni are a talented group of individuals who have generated billions of dollars of economic growth. They are our artists, animators, automotive mechanics, child care givers, business leaders, financial gurus, health care professionals, horticulturists, law enforcement officers, manufacturing experts, outstanding chefs, teachers, and veterinarians.  They have a reputation for entrepreneurial spirit. The Alumni of Distinction Awards was created to celebrate their commitment, passion, and dedication, not only to their respective communities, but also to their families.

The 2017 Alumni of Distinction recipients are:

  • Andrew Banar, Designer and Spokesperson for Group Hug Apparel, graduate of the Community Living Skills Program
  • David Sellick, Vice President of Sellick Equipment Limited, graduate of the Business Administration Program
  • Judy Robinet, Executive Director of A Life Worth Living, graduate of the Early Childhood Education Program
  • Dr. Snezana Ninkovich, Emergency Department Physician at Windsor Regional Hospital, graduate of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program
  • Elizabeth Farano, Vice President of Douglas Marketing Group, graduate of the Graphic Design Program
  • Daniel Miskokomon, Chief of Walpole Island First Nation, graduate of the Mechanical Drafting Technician Program.

We revel in their decision to choose a college education that provided them with the foundation and knowledge to achieve their goals. Award recipients Andrew Banar from Group Hugs Apparel says, “I feel happy and blessed to receive this award. I hope other students will take classes in the life skills program like I did.”

Since 1967, St. Clair College has graduated nearly 100,000 students. These students have become the bright and shining alumni and community leaders.  It is their knowledge, skills, and expertise that continue to be the backbone of our local, national and world-wide economy.
