Entertainment for All Ages at LaSalle Strawberry Festival
The four-day long LaSalle Strawberry Festival takes place from Thursday, June 7 to Sunday, June 10 at Gil Maure Park featuring a carnival, fireworks over the Detroit River, parade, entertainment and local strawberries.
The Rise 2 Fame Preliminary Youth Talent Competition takes place on Thursday night at 6:30 pm. Winners of the Junior Talent Search, ages 6-12, and Youth Talent Search, ages 13-21, will advance to the finals held during the Western Fair in September.
i-Flip is the ultimate aerial show provided by Milord Entertainment – the leader in producing Acrobatic Thrill Shows! This incredible 25-minute show includes Aerial Bungee, Tramp-Wall, Sphere, Power Track and more, concluding with a 60-foot death-defying High Fall into a stuntman airbag. i-Flip will perform at various times throughout the weekend.
Experience the spectacular fireworks display over the Detroit River on Friday night at 10:00 pm. Find the perfect seat inside or outside of the park.
The LaSalle Strawberry Festival Parade starts at Old Front Road and travels south on Front Road to Sacred Heart Drive. The parade will feature bands, giant inflatables, characters, Stilt Guys and of course features our very own Captain Strawberry! The parade starts at 10:00 am on Saturday.
Strolling entertainers will be in the park on Saturday. Watch for Eric The Juggler, Yoyo Jake and Classy M’Lassie with balloon twisting. Back again this year, are the Stilt Guys who bring their own unique brand of high energy, high stamina and interactive entertainment. On Sunday, the Stilt Guys will host the annual Strawberry Eating Contest at 1:30 pm in front of the main stage.
Sunday is Family Day featuring interactive stations for all ages including a photo booth, circus activities, face painting, character visits, mini-putt and visit LaSalle Fire Service, LaSalle Police Service and the LaSalle Vipers. Sunday’s entertainment continues with the Magical Duda Entertainment. Every performance is packed full of laughs and surprises! Each show is geared towards all ages, beginning with some silly magic for kids, leading into some more technical magic tricks leaving older kids and adults wondering – how did he do that? The Magical Duda Entertainment will be performing and strolling through the park at various times on Sunday.
Stop by the pavilion on Sunday between 10:00 am and noon to plant and take home your very own strawberry plant. Sponsored by Raymont’s Berries.
Many parents will remember the “Polka Dot Door”! Cindy Cook is a children’s performer familiar to Canadian families as the longest running female host of Canada’s most popular TV show “Polka Dot Door”, as well as the award winning series “Time to Read”. Cindy will perform on the main stage at 11:00 am on Sunday.
The ever-popular strawberry eating contest is taking place on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 pm and is open to the following age categories: 5 years old and under, 6-8 years old, 9-12 years old, 13-15 years old and adults. The strawberry eating contest is sponsored by Reaume Chevrolet and Raymont’s Berries.
Admission is $5 per person at the gate (children under 6 and seniors over 65 are free), or weekend passes are $12 per person. Weekend passes are now available at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex. All persons and bags entering the festival will be subject to security inspection.
