Madison Young is Keeping It Real In The Art World
Hyper realism is a form of art where the artist tries to make the drawing look like a photograph.
Madison Young, a 14 year old from Amhertsburg, Ontario started drawing around the age of 4, but declared her passion for hyper realism drawing at the age of 12. Since she receives most of her inspiration from Instagram and YouTube, Young is always looking at various artists drawings and gaining insight from their creative passions as well.
“As I continued to improve others would give me a “shout out” and I started to gain lots of followers, says Young. “From April 18, 2016 I had 10,000 followers and now I have over 38,000 followers.”
Young answers questions about her art, gives tutorials and states the materials she uses to create her art on her Instagram page dedicated to her drawings. She excels in realism and portraits through all self taught motivation.
“First of all, I search for a reference picture by either looking on Instagram for photographs. Then I draw a grid pattern on my paper to help map out proportions,” says Young. “Then I use a light box to transfer my sketch on to expensive good quality paper. After the outline is completed, I begin to colour the image.”
Young sells her art mostly to pay for more art supplies but donates artwork to various charitable events along with donating her time to create paintings for the Amherstburg River Winter Lights Festival.
Young hopes to start her own website, showcase her artwork on a broader spectrum through art shows and inspiring her followers through her drawings.
