Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) of Windsor says goodbye to Rev. Martha Daniels.

MCC is a Christian Church, open to all, with a Special and Positive Ministry to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, (LGBT) and Searching communities of Windsor and Essex County.

Around the world, MCC provides a spiritual home for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities and for all who choose to join us through the practicing of the gospel of Jesus Christ in worship, prayer, social action, education, fellowship, and generosity so that all people might experience God’s liberating love, wholeness, and justice; come to live in right relationship with God and all creation; and have the courage to change the world.

Since its founding in 1968, MCC has been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements by addressing important issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, and other forms of oppression.

MCC has been on the forefront in the struggle towards marriage equality in the US and other countries worldwide and continues to be a powerful voice in the LGBT equality movement.

Rev. Martha Daniels came to Windsor from the US 11 years ago to assume the responsibility of Pastor for Windsor’s MCC family.

In these 11 years Martha has touched countless numbers of lives and provided Christ-centered ministry to all – gay and straight.  The MCC Community has been welcomed as a faith community by Emmanuel United Church at 1728 Lincoln Rd where they have worshipped every Sunday at 1:30 pm.

Additionally, Martha served as a former Board President of Windsor Pride and has worked tirelessly for this organization, designing and delivering many diversity seminars and programs for the larger community.

Rev. Martha Daniels recently accepted the call to be Pastor at Holy Covenant Metropolitan Community Church in Brookfield, Illinois, (a Chicago suburb) effective June 2016.

Her Windsor congregants, friends and family gathered Friday May 13th at the Caboto Club for a Windsor Pride fundraising dinner and to give her a tearful and heartfelt send off.

After a 26 year career as a manager with the Canada Border Services Agency in Windsor, Joe retired in 2015. During his working years he was a volunteer with YourTV (TV COGECO) from 2003 to 2015 as an on air media personality covering the City of Windsor and Essex County Council meetings. Now, he still keeps busy as a registered Ontario Marriage Officiant and has married more than 1,600 couples, and is owner of Creative Marriage Celebrations. He is also in his 10th season playing the role of the Fighting Parson in Windsor's award winning and highly acclaimed Rum Runners Tour presented by Encore Productions. And Joe has been sharing his talents and numerous life experiences with Biz X for many years as our Cup of Joe columnist plus he always pitches in to help us with any other “Joe – Jobs” we can find for him!
