Sun Parlour Folk Music Society Presents Harrow Secondary School Student with Scholarship at Kingsville Folk Music Festival

The 2016 MAY FUNd (Music and Arts for Youth) scholarship was awarded to Sydney Mucha, a graduate of Harrow District Secondary School. The award was presented by the Sun Parlour Folk Music Society at the Kingsville Folk Music Festival on Sunday, August 14.

The Society board members selected Sydney’s application from submissions from area secondary school students, based on criteria, which included financial need and post-secondary arts continuing education.

Sydney Mucha is thrilled saying, “I’ll be attending St. Clair College in Windsor in the Entertainment Technology program. Receiving the MAY FUNd Scholarship is a great acknowledgment that my participation in music and theatre were appreciated, and the money will be very helpful in covering my material costs this coming semester. As of now, I am leaning towards being a sound technician either in live or studio production. I have enjoyed volunteering at the Kingsville Folk Music Festival for the last 3 years as well, and plan on continuing to help where needed.” Sydney is also a music student and plays banjo!

The 3rd annual Kingsville Folk Music Festival took place August 12-14 at Lakeside Park in Kingsville and is presented by the Sun Parlour Folk Music Society.  Kingsville Folk Music Festival is a project of the non-profit Sun Parlour Folk Music Society. A portion of the net proceeds from the Festival are designated for The MAY FUNd (Music and Arts for Youth), a project developed by the Society that provides financial assistance to area youth to access the arts through workshops, lessons, mentoring sessions and an annual scholarship.
