Windsor Essex, South Korea Form Partnership

Today the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation hosted a delegation from the City of Guro, South Korea.

The delegation consisted of Deputy Mayor Soo Dong Han, Hong Bog Lee, Director of Strategy and Finance Division, Gi Joong Kim, Director of International Affairs Division and Seung Hyun Jo, Assistant Manager of International Affairs Division.

A Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed by Deputy Mayor Soo Dong Han and the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation’s CEO Stephen MacKenzie. The goal of today’s signing ceremony was to promote business partnerships and mutual economic development.

“We are excited about the possibilities that exist for our two areas. Your City houses a large IT and software cluster and WindsorEssex region is home to a number of companies producing the hardware for these industries. This is a perfect match.” said Stephen MacKenzie, CEO of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation.

Welcoming remarks concerning the Windsor Essex, South Korea partnership were made by the City of Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, County of Essex Warden Tom Bain.

County of Essex Warden Tom Bain added, “We look forward to working with our friends from Guro to promote opportunities as we work for the mutual benefit for our companies and our communities.

“Windsor has an outstanding reputation for welcoming the World to the City.  This is a clear example of how our cultural diversity opens up opportunities for education and business.” – City of Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens

Deputy Mayor Soo Dong Han said, “Understanding that your region is known for its strength in advanced manufacturing makes it a natural fit with the City of Guro. I hope that the relationship between our two cities will develop successfully.”
