The Search Is On For 20 Year Businesses!

This issue we feature a cover story on Windsor Essex millennials starting out their careers. Me, well, I am from Generation X.

My family business, although celebrating 20 years of publishing in 2017, is still relatively young and adapting to new technologies constantly. I am very proud of all the magazine has accomplished to date and all that is to come in the future.

Lately, when I am attending events and during email messages, many ask how we are going to commemorate our anniversary.
To start, we are in very good company with other 20 year old local businesses like The Bloomin’ Gardener in Oldcastle (Mike and Kelly Colasanti); Michael Anthony Hair and Tanning Salon (Michael Anthony Maio); and Generator Design (Alan Crouse and Jose Guzman). And because our mission is to promote the businesses of Windsor and Essex County, it is fitting that others share in helping us mark our milestone and theirs too.

Throughout the issues we will be publishing this year, we will profile other companies who also celebrate 20 years in business. So, if you know of a company that we should include, please fill out an online form at BizXmagazine.com and let me know!

In closing, since we receive so many well wishes from our supporters when possible I will share some of the letters that come to my mailbox. Deborah Jones – Publisher of Biz X Magazine Deborah Jones graduated from the University of Windsor with an Honours Degree in Communication Studies and was employed at two other local magazines shortly after for a few years learning all she could about writing, advertising, public relations and more. She made the jump in 1998 to go out on her own to publish Biz X magazine and has worked in the publishing industry since 1990. In 2007, she earned the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from the Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce. To date, she is the ONLY woman so far to receive this award. In 2013, she received one of the first “Windsor Women of the Year” awards from the Ladies Exclusive Alliance. Her most recent achievement is the 2023 Media Award from the Windsor Essex Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Deborah is proud to live in Windsor and truly cares about each and every business and strives to make Windsor Essex the best place to live, work and play.
