T2B RAISES OVER $200K FOR CANADA’S FIRST PALLIATIVE GREENHOUSE PROJECT
T2B hosted its 12th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, June 16th in honour of the charity’s late friend and board member, Dr. Lisa Ventrella-Lucente, raising over $208,000 for T2B’s newest capital campaign. Over 200 guests shared in the excitement as T2B launched Phase 2 of its newest capital campaign – the Dr. Lisa Ventrella-Lucente Greenhouse Project at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. According to Vice President of External Affairs at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Bill Marra, the project will be one-of-a-kind in Canada.
“The Dr. Lisa Ventrella-Lucente Healing Garden and Greenhouse will provide another unique opportunity for people to live well, despite the challenges they are facing. To be able to visit such a peaceful and beautiful place is a privilege, which will be easily accessible within the grounds of Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. Having healthy food grown within the T2B Greenhouse, which will be used for T2B’s Holiday Meal Program, is another exciting venture, which supports our vision to cultivate a healthier community and we look forward to seeing this program flourish. We are not aware of any other Palliative Care Program in Canada which boasts a combined Healing Garden and Greenhouse/Conservatory for patients and family members in the manner that T2B has done it.” – Bill Marra, VP of External Affairs at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare

Last year, T2B raised enough funds to support Phase 1 of the project – The Dr. Lisa Ventrella-Lucente Healing Garden at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. The garden will feature a full size concrete labyrinth for meditation and spiritual renewal, an herb garden, seating areas and much more. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be on September 14, 2017 with Bishop Ronald Fabbro coming to bless the garden. More details to follow.
