Are you Ready to Rock Your Sole for Mental Health?!
Back by popular demand – Rock Your Sole: The Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, November 10, 2018. This year the event will be happening at The Hangar located at the Canadian Historical Aircraft Museum. (104-2600 Airport Road).
This amazing event features entertainment by Jody Raffoul, delectable cuisine, and a silent auction that includes a vacation package to a Hard Rock vacation resort. As part of Rock Your Sole: The Reunion two raffles are also included.
“We are very excited to have two raffles this year,” says committee member Jasmine Jasey. “For just $100 you can purchase a ticket for a Rolex watch valued at $10,000. There is also a separate raffle for a gorgeous Chanel handbag generously donated by The Job Shoppe valued at $7,800. This is a great way to support the event if you are unable to attend that evening. And there are only 300 tickets being sold for each raffle.”
Rock Your Sole was held for the first time last year as part of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch’s Sole Focus Project campaign. The event was an overwhelming success raising over $125,000 making it the single-largest fundraiser in CMHA-WECB history.
“We were overwhelmed by the response last year. It was an evening that we won’t forget, the energy in the room was invigorating. As soon as it was over people were already asking us when the event would be held in 2018. The committee has worked really hard to ensure The Reunion is a fun-filled party to raise funds in support of this campaign,” – Kim Willis, Director, Communications and Mental Health Promotion, CMHA-WECB
The Sole Focus project was launched in 2017 with a goal to engage, educate and enlist the community about mental health. With one in five Canadians personally affected by a mental illness annually we need to be proactive in delivering information and resources to the community. The campaign surpassed the original fundraising goal of $500,000 in less than one year. As such, the goal has been expanded to $1.5 million over three years to provide additional resources and outreach. A large focus of the campaign includes suicide prevention and awareness.
“Currently mental health promotion is not an area fully funded by the government. However, we know that just like any other illness, early identification and intervention can make a difference when dealing with a mental illness. Through funds raised by the campaign, we have been able to deliver mental health education and workshops to priority populations including youth and workplaces,” says Willis.
VIP tickets are $175 and general admission tickets are $125 per person and are selling quickly. “We are encouraging people to purchase tickets soon to avoid disappointment.” Tickets, event information and raffle tickets are available online.
“The more we talk about mental illness, the more we can and will end the stigma. The key to starting this conversation is awareness and education. Education empowers individuals to pay the same attention to their mental health as they do their physical health,” says Jasey.
