City of Windsor Storm Water Financing

How should we pay for Windsor’s future investments in storm water management? New video presentation and survey can help you learn more and have your say!

Flooded basements, flooded roads and harmful runoff into lakes, rivers and streams—these are the realities Windsor is seeing due to the impacts of climate change and the increased intensity and volume of storm water precipitation, falling on impermeable ground and flowing into aging infrastructure.

The City is taking action on the aging infrastructure, spending millions of dollars in upgrades. The question now is how best to fund the management of storm water runoff, which is an important component of overall flooding challenges that still needs to be addressed.

There are options, and the city encourages residents to watch the storm water financing study video below, review the city’s Storm Water Financing webpage and take their survey to have your say.

The survey will be open from September 21 to October 19, 2020. Information collected will be compiled into a report that will help Windsor City Council decide the future of storm water financing in our city.

Storm water management needs to be addressed, and the the city feels the best way to fund the City’s investments in storm water management may not be the same as it has been in the past.
