The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach Announces the Winner of $25K and Donates $12K Towards the Build a New Accessible Respite Home

The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach has organized Taste of Tecumseh the last few years, but due to Covid this festival had to be cancelled. The Club still wanted to volunteer their time and do something for the community, so they organized a raffle, selling around 3000 tickets. The winner Brad McDonald won $25,000.00 and the club was able to donate $12,000.00 to Family Respite Services!

“We want to thank everyone that purchased a ticket. This donation will go towards funding an outdoor playground space at the new home and will help put a smile on the many children that use Family Respite Services”. Robert Drake, Director, Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach

“As a parent of a child with a disability we rely on respite supports so that we can get a much needed shortbreak and my child can have a safe and fun place to go with trained support staff from Family Respite Services. A new accessible respite home is needed in our community, so thank you to The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach for making this commitment to children with disabilities in our community.”

“The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach has partnered with Family Respite Services for two years now through the Toy Drive at Christmas and now through this raffle. This partnership is critical so that the 1200 families caring for children with disabilities can have the necessary resources to provide for their children with disabilities. The families are grateful for this partnership and commitment for their children living with disabilities” Alexandria Fischer, Community Relations, Family Respite Services
