City of Windsor Recruiting Municipal Election Workers
The City of Windsor is recruiting election workers to assist at election polling locations for the 2026 municipal election. Employment opportunities are available for Election Day, Monday, October 26, 2026.
Residents interested in joining the election team are encouraged to to complete the online application form.
Candidate Nominations Open
The City of Windsor would like to remind prospective candidates seeking nomination that the deadline to file is Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Residents seeking nomination must fill out the prescribed candidate forms, which are available at 350 City Hall Square West on the first floor (wickets 3 and 4) or online at www.WindsorElections.ca. A nomination filing fee of $100 applies for city councillor and school board trustee candidates, and a $200 fee applies for mayoral candidates (cash, debit, or credit card payment only).
Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays), by August 20, 2026; or between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, 2026. Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling 519-255-6100 ext. 6285.
Eligibility
Those wishing to run for election must, at the time of being nominated, be:
- A resident of the city of Windsor or a non-resident-owner or tenant of land in the city of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant,
- A Canadian citizen,
- At least 18 years old, and
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
Voter Information
Who Can Vote?
To be eligible to vote in the Municipal Election, you must be:
- A resident of the city of Windsor, or the owner or tenant of land in the city of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant of land; and
- A Canadian citizen; and
- 18 years of age or older on Election Day, Monday, October 26, 2026; and
- Not prohibited from voting or otherwise prohibited by law (refer to the Municipal Elections Act for details)
The Following are Not Eligible to Vote:
- A person who is serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
- A corporation
- A person acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act.
How Do I Vote?
Visit the Information for Voters page for details on how to vote in the 2026 Municipal Election. Update: Voter notification cards will be mailed in September. While voters are encouraged to bring their voter notification card to the voting location, it is not required to vote. Eligible voters who do not receive a voter notification card may still vote by presenting accepted identification.

Free Transit for Voters
If you are an eligible voter, you may ride the bus for free when you go to vote on Election Day or any advance voting day. Present your voter notification card to the bus driver on your way to and from voting.
