The WindsorEssex Community Foundation Wants to Hear from Local Charities on Covid-19 and Lockdowns Impact

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) is aware of the challenges that charitable organizations are facing due to Covid-19 and lockdowns. To get a better understanding the WindsorEssex Community Foundation is conducting a survey for local charities to fill out and share with the Foundation what their organizations are experiencing and their struggles so the WECF can get a better idea on where they can help and to assess the needs of charitable organizations in Windsor-Essex County. The survey only takes a few moments to fill out and is found on the Foundations website.

Kim Willis, Director Communications and Mental Health Promotion at the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County Branch shared with the Foundation the effect that Covid-19 and lockdowns have had and she shared that ”Since the beginning of the pandemic, CMHA-WECB has continued to offer services and raise funds in support of unfunded programs and services. The difference with the latest lockdown is that people are burned out and tired. Consequently, our mental health and resiliency have been negatively impacted.” Kim Willis, Director Communications and Mental Health Promotion.

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation, originally founded in 1983 as Heritage Windsor, is a perpetual community trust for philanthropic purposes. It exists to manage donors’ legacy funds and make grants to support local community programs. Through grant making activities, the WECF is able to establish partnerships to assist a broad range of community organizations.
