On Thursday April 13th, local MPP Lisa Gretzky met with the team at Brentwood Recovery Home to hear more about the $86,900 Resilient Communities Fund Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to provide a professional development and training curriculum for Brentwood staff. The project was completed at the end of MARCH and is giving staff additional skills to meet the growing and complex needs of clients and the community.
“Congratulations to Brentwood Recovery Home for receiving this transformative Ontario Trillium Foundation grant. Brentwood and its staff, now have the knowledge and technological tools to deliver supports and services that fit our ever-changing world,” said Lisa Gretzky, MPP for Windsor West. “With the considerable training that the staff has received, Brentwood can now provide the enhanced delivery of supports and services to the Windsor-Essex community. The Professional Development and training as well as the tangible tools that have been provided, can only lead to further innovative approaches and enhanced supports for people in need into the future.”
In addition to the benefit to clients currently on program at Brentwood, the skills learned in the training will benefit hundreds of program graduates and Alumni each year through aftercare programs. And thanks to the grant, Brentwood was also able to support staff and upgrade technology with the purchase of new computers.
“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be overstated,” said Elizabeth Dulmage, Executive Director of Brentwood Recovery Home. “This grant has allowed us to support our employees in the work they do by providing critical training and professional development. This training will help them support the needs of clients, our Alumni and the community. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of granting and building healthy and vibrant communities across the province.”
