OCTOBER 27, 2023 IS ONTARIO DRESS PURPLE DAY
Every October Children’s Aid Societies across the province raise awareness about the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families.
To mark this day and bring the community together, the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society is hosting a Pancake Breakfast. Please join them at the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society, 1671 Riverside Dr. Friday, October 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. (Speakers are promptly at 9 a.m.)
On Dress Purple Day, we raise awareness that Children’s Aid Societies are community organizations that are part of the circle of care that supports the well-being of children, youth, and families. We focus on bringing awareness to the early help and supportive services available to families facing challenges and to the prevention and early intervention work Children’s Aid Societies do to support families and keep children and youth at home.
Dress Purple Day is also an opportunity for Children’s Aid Societies to celebrate and continue building partnerships with local cross-sector providers who commit to strengthening families through enhanced community-based prevention and early intervention.
You will hear from local Leaders & Advocates representing; Windsor Essex County Health Unit, Hiatus House, 211, Community Mental Health Association – Windsor Youth Hub, ProsperUs, and more.
Derrick Drouillard is the Society’s Executive Director and shares that “families need our help, our support, and to know that there is hope. We cannot do this work alone. Families need an entire community behind them that cares for their safety and wellbeing.” See his call-to-action video message here.
The foundation is asking the community to wear purple on October 27, commit to holding conversations/activities/events, take to social media, and join them for the Pancake Breakfast to show support to children, youth and families across Windsor/Essex.
