ACT’s Evita Brings A Bold Theatrical Experience To Windsor
Arts Collective Theatre (ACT) is proud to present Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s iconic musical Evita, opening October 3 at the Capitol Theatre. This marks the first Windsor staging of Evita in more than 20 years, making it one of the most anticipated productions of the season.
Evita tells the story of Eva Perón, Argentina’s most iconic First Lady, tracing her journey from poverty to political power and international fame. With unforgettable songs like “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”, “Buenos Aires”, and “Rainbow High”, this sweeping musical blends spectacle and emotion in equal measure, offering audiences both a feast for the eyes and a moving reflection on power and legacy.
ACT’s production is led by an outstanding creative team. Award-winning director Chris Rabideau brings his signature vision and community-driven artistry to the staging. Alde Calongcagong, music director for ACT’s 2024 hit RENT, returns to lead the live professional orchestra through Andrew Lloyd Webber’s demanding score. Choreographer Brandon Sato infuses the show with fresh movement, even adding dance to numbers that traditionally have none. At the heart of it all is Scarlet Sofia Colmenares Vargas, a powerhouse vocalist originally from Venezuela, stepping into the role of Eva Perón with passion and authenticity.
Audiences can also expect ACT’s hallmark attention to design: a multilayered set featuring a revolving stage, LED screens that heighten the drama, and original costumes created by local designers. With a dynamic cast of 22, including emerging talent and seasoned performers, this Evita is a bold, Broadway-calibre production created right here in Windsor.
Evita runs October 3 to 11, 2025 at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets: Adult $47, Student/Senior (60+) $43. Prices include box office fees and HST. Available online.
