Under perfectly sunny skies with temperatures hovering near 21 – 22C, hundreds of Windsor residents paraded along the Windsor Riverfront with Mayor Drew Dilkens and some of his councillors and other dignitaries for the Annual Mayor’s Walk and 124th Birthday Celebration of Windsor.
Members of the Windsor Pipe band led the way for the Mayor’s Walk to the applause and amazement of hundreds of fishermen fishing for silver bass at the river’s bank from the bridge to the downtown festival plaza.
The parade of families, rainbow ride participants, pets made their way to the Riverfront Festival Plaza where they were treated to beverages, hot-dogs and birthday cupcakes.
Bigg Wiggle entertained the children from the main stage along with Optimist Clubs of Windsor and Essex County providing a Monster Mural Colour Paint Station and sidewalk chalk (children were able to colour a giant birthday scene on a specially designed Monster Mural canvas). Kids got to burn off steam courtesy of Redline inflatables with their castles and slides.
Also in attendance was Adventure Bay’s mascot – Youcan The Toucan, Windsor Spitfires mascot ‘Bomber’. Windsor Fire Services mascot, Sparky.
The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix had a show car on display and Museum Windsor entertained with assorted family activities.
A Happy Birthday Celebration for Windsor was enjoyed by one and all!
