Canada 150 Celebrations & Official 2017/2018 Visitor Guide
Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) is thrilled to announce the launch of two important communication pieces – the WE150.ca website and the Official 2017/2018 Visitor Guide. Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday and the WE150.ca website will serve to gather information on Canada 150 celebrations throughout Windsor and Essex County – making it easy for visitors to find learn more about our local history and to find out all the fantastic events happening in each municipality. This will be a useful supplement to the official website and the Official Visitor Guide.
The website will showcase signature events and promotions including the Parks Canada Discovery Pass, the City of Windsor’s 125th Birthday Celebration, and the exciting Canada Day celebrations throughout the region. Furthermore, visitors will learn some interesting history on how our region played a role in the building of our nation. The website will also list all Canada 150-related events, both by region and by municipality. Event organizers are invited to submit any tourism-related event that incorporates a celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday to Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island and the event list will continue to grow as more events are submitted all year long.
“We’re extremely pleased to put together a website that will be a one-stop shop for visitors seeking to learn how our region is joining in the Canada 150 celebrations,” said Nelson Santos, Chair of the Board of Directors of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island and Mayor of Kingsville. “Even better, this website gives us the opportunity to showcase the patriotic spirit in all the municipalities in our region.”
At the event, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island also launched the Official 2017/2018 Visitor Guide. In the spirit of the celebration, Point Pelee National Park, one of Canada’s national treasures, was selected to be the focus of this year’s Visitor Guide cover, and it was a natural choice to hold the launch event at this gateway to nature, adventure and discovery right here in our own backyard.
“The new Visitor Guide is a visual piece filled with an endless array of possibilities. We are using the Visitor Guide to challenge visitors to think, ‘Why not?’ and find their own reason(s) why they’ll love this place,” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island.
