The Charity Chix have made the dream of an enriching summer camp experience possible for hundreds of underprivileged children in our community.
The Charity Chix recently held their Arabian Nights event that was a resounding success, raising just over $68,000.
The Charity Chix celebrated the success with a cheque presentation to two worthy organizations on Thursday, June 23 during the Windsor Police Services Board Meeting at Windsor Police Services headquarters. The proceeds will be divided between the Windsor Kiwanis Camp Sunshine and the Windsor Police Services Camp Brombal.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to contribute to both local summer camp programs. We have witnessed firsthand the tremendous impact that even modest investments, along with care and attention, can have upon the lives of children. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters we will be able to enhance the programming for children who would not otherwise have the opportunity of a camp experience.” – Kim Spirou, President of the Charity Chix.
Both of these camps provide underprivileged children with the opportunity to attend a week long enriching and active camp program away from strife at home and on the streets. Some of the children attending these camps are under the care of the Children’s Aid Society, others come from families who could never afford to send their kids to camp.
The Charity Chix is a not-for-profit organization comprised of business, labor and professional women who have joined forces to raise funds for worthy causes locally and globally. Working as “freelance fundraisers”, the Charity Chix focus its attention on local charity and those in need around the globe.
Prior to the Charity Chix cheque presentation, two Windsor Police Services Auxiliary Officers, Mike Tedesco and George Salloum, presented the Windsor Police Services Board with a cheque for $720 for Camp Brombal from funds raised at a barbecue they hosted.
