City of Windsor 2018 Holiday Hours

City of Windsor offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 25 and Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in observance of the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays, and on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 for New Year’s Day. The next City Council meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 350 City Hall Square West.

311 Call Centre
The 311 Call Centre will have reduced hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 24, and Monday, December 31, 2018. The Call Centre will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019. Normal hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. apply to all other weekdays during the holiday season.

211 Windsor-Essex
The 211 Call Centre will remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the holiday period.

Garbage and Recycling Collections
There will be no residential collection services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. Residential collection services will be delayed after these holidays. Please refer to your Collection Schedule, visit www.citywindsor.ca, or call 311 for more information.

Night commercial collection will not change.

A Christmas tree and yard waste collection will be provided during the weeks of January 7 and January 14, 2019 (please refer to your collection calendar).

Note: Please keep your 2018 collection schedule, as it remains in effect until March 31, 2019.

Public Drop-off & Household Chemical Waste Depots
The depots, located at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and E.C. Row will be closed on Monday, December 24, Tuesday, December 25 and Wednesday, December 26, 2018, as well as Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Normal winter operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for the disposal of garbage, red and blue box recyclables, cardboard, appliances, renovation materials, tires and yard waste. Tipping fees may apply. The Household Chemical Waste Depot accepts paints, stains, propane tanks, motor oils, batteries, pesticides, fluorescent tube bulbs, mercury thermometers and any other household chemical waste.

Parks and Recreation
Community and customer care centres continue with scheduled rentals, but facility hours are adjusted on a number of days. See our reference list of centre hours for December 18 to January 8 (Note: Hours subject to change, so please call centre to confirm if unsure). Arenas close at 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (except for AM800’s New Year’s Eve-ning at the WFCU Centre), and all arenas are closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as well as Boxing Day. Lanspeary Lions and Charles Clark Square outdoor rinks will close at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and are closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; Charles Clark Square is open for free supervised skating 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. from December 22, 2018 to January 6, 2019, except as noted above and weather permitting. The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre Presented by WFCU Credit Union has adjusted schedules on several days throughout the holidays. See Memberships for details.

Bright Lights Windsor at Jackson Park is open nightly until January 6, 2019, 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. with special performances and a holiday market on Friday and Saturday nights.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park
Adventure Bay Family Water Park Presented by WFCU Credit Union will be open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily throughout the holiday break (Saturday December 22, 2018, to Sunday, January 6, 2019), except for a 4:00 p.m. closing time on New Year’s Day, December 31, 2018; Adventure Bay will also close at 4:00 on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018 and will be closed entirely on Christmas Day, December 25, 2018.

Parking Enforcement
There will be no parking enforcement, and the ticket payment office will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2018, as well as January 1, 2019.

Windsor Public Library
Windsor Public Library holiday hours are as follows:

  • Monday, December 24, 2018: all libraries open 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 25, 2018: Closed
  • Wednesday, December 26, 2018: Closed
  • Sunday, December 30, 2018: Closed
  • Monday, December 31, 2018: all libraries open 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 1, 2019: Closed

Museum Windsor (Chimczuk Museum and François Baby House):

  • December 22, 2018 (both locations): Open 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • December 23, 2018 (Chimczuk Museum only): 11am-5pm
  • December 24-25, 2018: Both locations closed
  • December 26, 2018: Chimczuk Museum open 10-5; François Baby House closed
  • December 27-29, 2018 (both locations): Open 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • December 30, 2018 (Chimczuk Museum): Open 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • December 31-January 1, 2019 (both locations): Closed
  • Regular hours resume January 2, 2019.

Transit Windsor
Throughout the Holiday season, Transit Windsor reminds patrons to check posters on each bus or see our detailed holiday transit schedule online.

Adjustments occur to city service on:

  • Christmas Eve Day – Sunday schedule except 1A
  • Christmas Day – Special schedule
  • Boxing Day – Sunday schedule except 1A and 7
  • New Year’s Day – Sunday schedule

Bus schedules and route maps may be found on the City of Windsor website at www.citywindsor.ca/transitwindsor. You may also pick up a printed copy of this information at select Windsor area Shoppers Drug Mart, Windsor Public Library branches, community centres, arenas, Transit Centre, or any Transit Windsor bus. Fare media will be sold at Transit Windsor’s sales offices as follows, during the 2018 Holiday Season: Windsor International Transit Terminal (includes Greyhound ticket sales at this location) 300 Chatham Street West–open daily (except Christmas Day) from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Christmas Day from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Transit Centre, 3700 North Service Road will be closed on December 25, December 26, 2018 and January 1, 2019 (regular hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays). Transit Centre will extend hours (8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) on December 29, 2018 and January 2, 2019. For further assistance please contact Transit Windsor at 519-944-4111.
