MAYORS KICK-OFF CRIME STOPPERS MONTH WITH PROCLAMATION

Communities of Windsor-Essex Invited to Be a Crime Stopper

Mayor Drew Dilkens belonging to the City of Windsor and Mayor Michael Prue for the Town of Amherstburg have proclaimed January, 2024 as Crime Stoppers Month.

“The foundation of Crime Stoppers is the partnership between the community, law enforcement and media,” says Windsor Police Coordinator Constable Lauren Brisco. “Through this partnership, Crime Stoppers is able to prevent and/or solve crime toward making our community a safer place. The City of Windsor and Town of Amherstburg’s proclamation is indicative of the regional support we share for all concerned citizens.”

The program works to educate the public and create awareness on illegal activities in an effort to help promote the Canadian values of safety, empowerment and inclusion. Creating awareness and mobilizing Canadians in reporting suspicious or criminal activity anonymously requires a network of partners working together for a common end.

“For Crime Stoppers month, we will engage the regional community through a variety of events and campaigns that will give local business and people the opportunity to be a crime stopper,” says Program Manager, Jeremy Renaud.
