Deborah Jones – If You Promote It, They Will Come!

Moving along now with our 20 years of publishing celebrations, I would like to mention how Biz X magazine promotes tourism in the area to help businesses and charities earn more dollars.

As a preview to our relationship to tourism, please read the letter I received from Gordon Orr, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (VisitWindsorEssex.com). And be sure to check out the “Awards Spotlight” column in this issue (Page 42) to see the winners of their “Best of Windsor Essex” campaign, a comprehensive list of the “Best Of” things to see and do in the region.

Of course our own Biz X Awards also inform local residents on the top businesses in the region and in our hospitality section we have nominees for the finest dining establishments, casual places to grab a bite, places to stay and events to attend as well.

Not only do we try to make sure residents in Windsor and Essex County know about all the great things going on here, but we also promote all we can across the border with our distribution of certain issues in Michigan. We aim to get the American tourists and day trippers to visit our local establishments and festivals etc.

That’s why in every issue you will find articles on what is happening each month. And one of the biggest concerts we sponsor is coming up soon, so I’m throwing in a plug for it now.

On June 17 at 8 p.m. Biz X presents the “4th Annual We Will Rock Blue” to benefit Roots 2 Wings. This time around it is a tribute to ABBA with the group, ALWAYS ABBA.

ALWAYS ABBA has been thrilling crowds across North America, performing hits such as Mama Mia, S.O.S, Waterloo, Take A Chance On Me, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money, Money, Money, and Dancing Queen.

Deborah Jones – Publisher of Biz X Magazine Deborah Jones graduated from the University of Windsor with an Honours Degree in Communication Studies and was employed at two other local magazines shortly after for a few years learning all she could about writing, advertising, public relations and more. She made the jump in 1998 to go out on her own to publish Biz X magazine and has worked in the publishing industry since 1990. In 2007, she earned the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from the Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce. To date, she is the ONLY woman so far to receive this award. In 2013, she received one of the first “Windsor Women of the Year” awards from the Ladies Exclusive Alliance. Her most recent achievement is the 2023 Media Award from the Windsor Essex Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Deborah is proud to live in Windsor and truly cares about each and every business and strives to make Windsor Essex the best place to live, work and play.
