Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Scheduled to Close for Nonessential Travel to help slow Spread of COVID-19

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel announced today that, per a directive from the U.S. government, it will close for nonessential personnel, including regular travelers as advised by the US and Canadian governments.

The decision, made in agreement with the government of Canada, will not affect trade or those workers deemed “essential.” Further clarification is expected in the near future on which workers are covered by this exemption and on the required documentation that will be needed.

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will continue to keep the news media updated as such details emerge, including when the travel restrictions will be lifted.
