Easter Seals Ontario 100 Year Celebrations November 2022
Celebrations are taking place throughout Windsor Essex this fall in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Easter Seals Ontario.
Founded in Windsor, Easter Seals Ontario is celebrating a century of providing innovative, life-changing programs to children and youth with physical disabilities. To mark this incredible milestone, the organization is returning to the place where it all began, Windsor, Ontario, with a fall lineup of exciting events and initiatives.
“100 years is a pretty big milestone and I think part of that success is we’re all in it for the right reasons, right from the start. From the beginning they knew that we need to see a world where kids with disabilities … can reach just as much potential, not only to impact their world, but so that those kids can impact our world.”
STARR MELOCHE, Community Engagement Officer
First up the annual telethon is aired live on Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on CTV (CTV 2 — which broadcasts a high-definition digital signal on channel 26.1 in downtown Windsor and channel 16.1 in Essex County). It can also be viewed on Cogeco Cable channel 6 in standard definition, on channel 803 in high definition, on Bell Satellite TV channel SD 585 and on Shaw channel 645, channel 99 in the advance lineup.
It will also be broadcast on Bell Media Radio, who are also live streaming it on social media simultaneously.
The host of the telethon is Bob Bellacicco of CTV Windsor and Biz X magazine’s Joe McParland is the roaming reporter out in the community.
Then later in November, Easter Seals Ontario celebrates its official 100th birthday party at the historic Willistead Manor on November 28, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Members of the community are invited to attend as the evening will be an opportunity to thank all the dedicated supporters from the Windsor Essex region who have contributed to the success of Easter Seals Ontario.
Additional events include a glitzy evening of dancing, dinner, and fun, hosted by Easter Seals for the Windsor community at the first-ever Windsor Essex Dancing with Easter Seals Stars event. It will be a night to remember with a 1920s theme in honour of the organization’s 100th birthday!
As Easter Seals Ontario celebrates its centennial year, it is honoured to have Rotary Club 1918 closely involved in the Windsor-Essex centennial celebrations, which played a key role in establishing Easter Seals Ontario. Easter Seals hopes the Windsor community will join them as they celebrate all that they have accomplished together over the past 100 years and share their thanks and appreciation for the community at the upcoming events this fall.
