Enactus Windsor was named National Champion, not once but twice, because of the positive impact they have had on vulnerable populations in their community through their CookStart project.
CookStart is a social enterprise creates food based businesses through a one-on-one consulting program where clients work with student consultants, financial planners, and restaurant industry leaders to help empower individuals to launch their enterprise. The aim of this project is to develop a sustainable food business incubator that will support food entrepreneurs in the Windsor-Essex region.

Through CookStart Windsor helped 37 participants launch 16 new food businesses, generating over $300,000 in revenues and diverting 400 pounds of produce from landfills every month. Thirty-one of these participants were women to whom the team provided support and mentorship through their entrepreneurial journey.
