New Health in Space Exhibit, Get Your Groove On Free Day, and March Break Activities this March at Museum Windsor

Museum Windsor has an exciting event schedule for March 2024, including a new travelling exhibition, a free admission day on March 23, and March Break activities.

New Exhibition: Health in Space: Daring to Explore – 401 Riverside Drive West

  • On display February 10 to May 5, 2024. Health in Space is the exciting new exhibition that demystifies the health challenges – such as variable gravity, radiation, and isolation – that astronauts face while living and working in space. Through authentic artifacts and captivating interactive activities, this exhibition will engage visitors to better understand Canada’s role in advancing health research. Regular admission rates apply.
  • This exhibit was developed by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, one of three museums under Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency.

New Display: Lebanese Community of Windsor – 401 Riverside Drive West

  • On display March 30, 2024. Created in conjunction with Lebanese community members, this display features photographs and artifacts that showcase local Lebanese history and culture. Regular admission rates apply.

Museum Volunteer Group Speaker Series – 401 Riverside Drive West

  • Saturday, March 9, 2024. Join the Museum Volunteer Group at 1 p.m. for our monthly speaker series. This month, local authors Matt St. Amand and Todd Ternovan will be discussing their new book “Gas of Tank: A Canadian Law Enforcement Odyssey 1979.” This event is open to the public; regular admission rates apply.

March Break Activities at the Chimczuk Museum – 401 Riverside Drive West

  • March 9 to 17, 2024. This March Break, Museum Windsor invites guests to come explore space without having to leave the comfort of Earth’s atmosphere.
  • Guests can explore the Chimczuk’s new travelling exhibit Health in Space: Daring to Explore from Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation. This interactive display makes learning about science out-of-this-world fun!
  • There is a Mission Space scavenger hunt and different space-themed crafts each day. For each completed activity or craft, guests can enter in a ballot to win an astronaut framed print.
  • Staff-guided crafts are available on Friday and Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Lego scavenger hunt takes place at the François Baby House (254 Pitt Street West).
  • Regular museum hours and admission rates apply.

Tours of the Historic Duff-Bâby House – 221 Mill Street

  • Saturday, March 16, 2024, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the historic Duff-Bâby House and learn about the restoration work being done on this 225-year-old historical gem. Free event, open to the public.

Free Admission Day: Get Your Groove On! Celebrating the 1960s & 70s – 401 Riverside Drive West

Saturday, March 23, 2024. To celebrate the closing of our Rosalie Trombley Commemorative Exhibition, Museum Windsor is pulling out all the stops with a 1960s & 70s–themed free day. The list of activities includes the following:

  • Guided tour of the Rosalie Trombley Commemorative Exhibition by Guest Curator Chris Renaud at 1 p.m.
  • Visitors invited to dress in their most creative 1960s and 1970s attire (Bring on the beads, headbands and bell-bottoms!)
  • Self-guided crafts and activities in our Children’s Gallery
  • Staff-guided pet-rock craft at 11 a.m.
  • Family-friendly scavenger hunt, along with some hands-on 1960s and 1970s “artifacts”
  • Free admission to the Chimczuk Museum and Art Windsor-Essex

This is one of your last chances to see the Rosalie Trombley exhibition before it closes to the public (final exhibition day is Sunday, March 24, 2024).
