Shar’s Ride for MS 2018
It was a beautiful sunny and hot day as “Shar’s Ride for MS” departed from the Moose Lodge, 777 Tecumseh Road West in Windsor on Sunday September 16, 2018.
Now in its 10th year of raising funds, to be kept local with the MS Society of Canada (Windsor-Essex Chapter), the ride subsidizes the purchase of mobility equipment (Wheelchairs, Walkers, Transfer Lifts, etc) for those who have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in our own community. The Organizer (Shar Good) was diagnosed with MS in 1987 and has been involved with the MS Society since 1991 as a Member at Large, Publication Editor and as Chapter Chairperson for six years before stepping down to create this event to raise the badly needed funds to help those in distress and in need of special mobility equipment.
This event has grown each year with participants as well as funds raised! All funds raised are used in the year following the event and a report by the MS Society (Windsor-Essex Chapter) is given to advise the participants specifically what equipment was purchased.
The 150 km Poker Ride winded throughout the County of Essex with stops at the Sandbar Waterfront Bar & Grill, Stoney Point Sportsmen’s Club and Colchester Bar & Grill ending back at the Moose Lodge for a family style dinner, fun and games.
