Three Cheers For Sports and Sparkle: The Main Event

Sports and Sparkle: The Main Event touched down to take over the Caboto Club on April 9, 2016. Presented by the Brain Injury Association of Windsor/Essex County (BIAWE) this third annual gala type “event with a twist” again was a fun, entertaining and interactive evening.

The evening was emceed by Houida Kassem of Cogeco TV and Bob Bellacicco of CTV who took care of the speeches and DJ Chris Tuer of Sounds Plus looked after the music. Over 300 guests in evening attire and even their favourite sports jerseys, enjoyed a wonderful meal of chateaubriand with mushrooms, roasted chicken and penne by the Caboto Club. Later the candy bar was a big attraction!

Attendees had the chance to meet VIP sports celebs Daryl Townsend of the Montreal Alouettes; Josh Cameron, boxer; Celine LaBrecque, Special Olympian; Tarrence Crawford, U of W Lancers and T.J. Laramie, teenage MMA prodigy. Windsor’s own Chelsea Girard, ‘Miss Teen United Nations 2015”  provided plenty of the sparkle for the evening.

As well the In Play! gaming area had guests trying to win prizes after playing golf, ring toss, baseball, pool and more.

Main event sponsors included Greg Monforton and partners; Biz X and In Play magazines; CTV; AM 800; Chapman Gordon Gardin Stewart, CSWind Canada, Liquid Wild, and Allegra downtown.

Proceeds from the event benefit BIAWE. A brain injury can be devastating. Beyond the individual’s impairments, there can be confusion, misunderstandings and doubts. For those who deal first hand with a brain injury it can become a lifetime of frustration, hardship and isolation.
