GL Heritage Brewing Company Puts On Free Viewing Party September 26, 2023 For Still Standing Show on Amherstburg

Amherstburg is about to take centre-stage on national television!

That’s right, the quaint, little town was selected by the CBC television show, Still Standing, who brought in their dynamic production team this past March to record the story of the incredible community of Amherstburg. That story is now about to be told across the country as this very special episode kicks off the popular show’s 9th season!

As described on CBC’s site, “In each episode of Still Standing, comedian Jonny Harris takes a hilarious and heart-warming journey to find humour in the unlikeliest of places – communities on the comeback trail.” and, “After immersing himself in the lives of local characters and unearthing the tall tales in these tiny towns, Jonny delivers a rousing original stand-up comedy routine – a toast, not a roast – for the whole community.”

“I have grown up in this town my entire life and I’ve never been more proud to be a part of something which finally recognizes and showcases just how special Amherstburg is!”

Stuart Smith, Amherstburg resident, co-inventor and entrepreneur of Rod Caddy

After primarily liaising with proud and passionate Amherstburg advocate, Stuart Smith, the Still Standing crew provided an opportunity for the community of Amherstburg to show off why it’s the best small town to live, visit and enjoy. Amherstburg more than stood up to the challenge! Thousands of residents, town officials and businesses came together in the form of an incredible Bagpipes in the Burg parade.

As mentioned by one of the show’s producers afterward, “No town that we have ever been to in 9 seasons (almost 100 episodes) has showcased the town in one single event like yesterday…. The town is going to love it on TV. The footage is stunning. We were all watching it in the hotel; it’s just wow.”

And now, the time has finally come to see the finished product, as the Still Standing series premieres its Season 9 with this spotlight episode on Amherstburg Tuesday, September 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBC.

Since GL Heritage Brewing Company eagerly supports all things ‘Amherstburg’, they are opening their doors for a free and LIVE public viewing party with the generous support of local Hag Customs, who is providing a big screen projection for everyone to watch the episode!
