VISITOR RESTRICTIONS EFFECTIVE MARCH 14, 2020 AT WINDSOR REGIONAL HOSPITAL

As part of our ongoing efforts to protect the public, patients and our staff from potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus, Windsor Regional Hospital has implemented restrictions to the number of visitors allowed per patient starting 12:01 am March 14, 2020.

Effective immediately, there will be ONLY ONE (1) visitor per patient except:

  • TWO visitors for paediatric patients
  • TWO visitors for patients in critical care/Neonatal Intensive Care
  • TWO visitors for palliative patients***

NO OTHER VISITORS WILL BE PERMITTED. NO VISITORS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE PERMITTED.

*** We are prepared to make special exceptions to the visitor policies above on compassionate grounds, but only at the request and approval of the patient, and in consultation with the care team and our infection control team.

Visiting hours remain unchanged – 11 am to 8 pm daily, with 24-hour visitation still permitted for palliative care, critical care, paediatrics, neonatal and the Emergency Department.

We ask that families and friends designate ONE or TWO individuals to be the visitors per patient throughout that patient’s stay in hospital. We also ask that you do NOT visit if you have travelled outside of Canada over the past 14 days, or have been in contact with someone who has, and/or you are feeling ill yourself.

“These measures are being implemented as part of our best efforts to limit the potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus from person to person,” said David Musyj, President and CEO, Windsor Regional Hospital. “They are taking effect to protect you, and your loved ones, whether they are our patients, our visitors, or our staff. As we have communicated previously, if you are ill with a respiratory infection, DO NOT come to hospital where you may risk transmitting this virus to another individual. If you are unsure whether you have contracted the COVID-19 virus, contact your primary care provider, medical clinic or the Windsor-Essex Public Health Unit 519 258 2146 ext. 1420, or call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000 (24 hours, seven days a week).”

Please continue to visit www.ontario.ca/coronavirus or www.wrh.on.ca for regular updates on COVID-19.

Windsor Regional Hospital will continue to update the public regarding any changes to policies and procedures until the pandemic declaration has been lifted by the Province of Ontario.
