WSO Brings Joy To Elderly With Special Performances At Retirement Homes

In a heartfelt effort to brighten the lives of elderly residents in local retirement communities, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra (WSO) will perform at retirement homes across the city. These intimate performances are designed to bring comfort, joy, and emotional connection through the power of music.

The Music for Health program brings a WSO quartet to long-term care facilities, retirement homes, and hospitals to support the health and wellness of homebound seniors.

This program is based upon the growing body of evidence that shows the positive impact music has on mental, emotional, and even physical health. Residents can request songs that have special meaning for them and share memories or stories that are elicited by the music.

“These concerts provide opportunities for people to have conversations with musicians about the music they love, and to share memories together as they enjoy the music live, in their home,” – Becky Ng, WSO Education and Outreach Manager
