YQG Swap Shoppe Returns December 2023
The YQG Swap Shoppe, a unique event that encourages the community to exchange books while supporting mental health services, returns on December 2, 2023.
Organized through a collaboration between Layan Barakat (Layan Bee) and Pure Mentality Mental Health Services, this event promises an engaging and philanthropic experience for book enthusiasts in Windsor-Essex.
Participants are invited to donate five gently used books at Pure Mentality or Terra Green Gardens drop-off locations. On the swap day, attendees can exchange their donated books for 2-3 titles at no cost. For those looking to expand their literary collections further, additional books can be acquired for a nominal fee of $5 per piece.
A commendable 50% of the proceeds generated from the book sales will be directed to Pure Mentality Mental Health Services, aiding their mission to support mental health initiatives in Windsor-Essex. This partnership aims to raise awareness about mental health while fostering a love for reading within the community.
“The Swap Shoppe was created with the vision of uniting people in a manner that nurtures our community and embraces the principles of a circular economy,” shares Barakat. “Everyone is always excited to contribute, and this edition of the Swap offers a wonderful opportunity to discover some fantastic treasures this holiday season — whether for yourself or the avid book lover on your shopping list!”
The remaining books from the Swap will be generously donated to McBride Youth United, contributing to their impactful initiatives. McBride Youth United McBride Youth United Association is a not-for-profit organization that aims to unite the youth of Windsor-Essex County. MYUA provides mentoring and educational programs for elementary and high school children. The organization provides the youth of Windsor-Essex County with skill-building, essential life skills, strong interpersonal skills, and pro-social friendships.
The event takes place on December 2, 2023 with drop off locations at at Pure Mentality, 871 Ottawa St #100, Windsor and Terra Green Gardens, 264 Dalhousie St, Amherstburg.
