WFCU COMMUNITY DONATIONS FUND RECIPIENTS
In January 2017, WFCU Credit Union issued a call for proposals inviting non-profit groups and organizations to apply for the 2017 Community Donations Fund, a fund dedicated to assisting community organizations in delivering programs and projects for the Windsor and Essex County region. Proposals were divided into four specific categories: Health and Wellness, Quality of Life, Cultural/Community and Support/Information.
Over sixty proposals were submitted and reviewed by a volunteer committee consisting of WFCU Credit Union employees and one Board of Director.
This afternoon, WFCU Credit Union announced the recipients of the 2017 Community Donations Fund. The Community Donations Fund is a significant element of WFCU’s overall Community Investment Program. Over the last fifteen years, WFCU has invested over $10 million back into the community through the Community Investment Program, $416,000 specifically through the Community Donations Funds.
Today, WFCU Credit Union was pleased to award $20,000 to 22 very worthy organizations from across Windsor and Essex County. The organizations deliver a wide range of programs and represent a cross-section of community groups and agencies from the region.
“We are here today to recognize the efforts of organizations in our community that help make our community a better place. Giving back to our community is not just a philosophy at WFCU but an integral part of who we are.” – Eddie Francis, WFCU President & Chief Executive Officer
WFCU’s mission statement is to provide services and a full range of the highest quality financial products to make the community the best place to live and work. WFCU believes that the Community Donations Fund is a program that helps to accomplish this goal, however, it is just a small part of WFCU’s overall commitment to Windsor and surrounding areas. Through its overall Community Investment Program and in addition to the Community Donations Fund, this Program provides Community Relations Initiatives, Youth Scholarships, Goods-In-Kind and Volunteerism, Free Community Rooms, Multi-Year Giving and The Community 1 Chequing Account.
As a locally owned and operated financial institution, WFCU Credit Union believes that being a responsible corporate citizen means investing in the community in which you operate and live. In short, WFCU believes supporting its community is a sound investment and takes great pride in its designation by the Canadian Centre of Philanthropy’s Imagine Program as a “Caring Company”.
