Leadership Windsor/Essex (LWE) and over 400 guests welcomed Alex Brown, ‘digital nomad’ and Beard Club President as the keynote speaker at the 40 Under 40 Leaders Awards, which took place at Caesars Windsor on Wednesday, March 28.
Brown is a Canadian-born entrepreneur who has been featured in Forbes, INC, AdAge, and Buzzfeed for his thought leadership on business, marketing, and philanthropy.
The 40 Under 40 Leaders Awards honour local individuals under the age of 40 who are not only emerging leaders in their profession, but are also giving back to their community in meaningful ways.
“We are very fortunate to live in a community with so many talented and generous young leaders,” says Lorraine Goddard, CEO, United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County. “Leadership Windsor-Essex – a program of United Way – has inspired and engaged hundreds of civic-minded leaders throughout the years and we are pleased to be able to recognize 40 of these leaders.”
In November and December, the community submitted over 150 nominations. From amongst this list of outstanding individuals, the top 40 award recipients were selected by a selection panel representative of the public, private, and non-profit sectors in Windsor and Essex County.
“We were extremely impressed with the response of the community. To have so many people nominated is a clear signal of the outstanding work being done in our community. These diverse, talented, innovative young leaders are valuable assets to our community and it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their success.” – Sherrilynn Colley-Vegh, LWE Program Director
The top 40 recipients are also featured in the March 2018 issue of Biz X magazine. Posters and cups were sold of the cover at the event.
