Register for LaSalle Emergency Alerts
If you have not registered for LaSalle Emergency Alerts yet, now is a great time to do so. A test of the messaging system will be sent to all registered users on Wednesday, November 14. The test will coincide with the municipal emergency management training day when administrative staff, fire, police, and EMS personnel will take part in responding to a mock scenario.
LaSalle Alerts will be used to provide important information in times of emergency. This system allows officials to contact those registered during events such as floods, large fires, evacuation orders, etc. They will provide notifications on municipal response, recommended actions, emergency information, and special instructions as appropriate throughout the event. When registering in the system, you choose how they contact you (one or more methods): text message, phone call to a cell phone or landline and/or email.
As a reminder, LaSalle Alerts will not provide warning prior to a severe weather event. This is not a weather alerting system, but rather, would provide information regarding our response and instructions for any areas impacted following a weather event, if they have information to share. For weather related alerts, they recommend using a weather radio, checking Environment Canada’s website, or subscribing to reliable weather alerting services.
Visit online to register in the system. It is easy to do and will only take a couple of minutes. It’s a great way to allow officials to contact you in an emergency when you are most looking for important information.
