READING, Pa., Nov. 8, 2018 – A trio of Penske Logistics truck drivers from Windsor are now members of the Penske Logistics Driver Wall of Fame. Harold Chapman, Steve Martineau and Dave Swan have reached the highest level of safety and professionalism after attaining the rare 20-year mark of consecutive accident-free driving as Penske Logistics truck drivers.
They are among 15 truck drivers in the 2018 class. They are among the 41 all-time members of the Penske Logistics Wall of Fame (this is the second year).
Harold Chapman
“I am very proud of the fact that I have been able to accomplish so many years of accident-free driving,” Chapman said of his induction. He has been a truck driver for 50 years, and has been a Penske employee for 20 of those years. Chapman is an advocate of the Smith System, and never being in a hurry.
When he is not working, Chapman likes to attend car shows and stock car races.
Steve Martineau
He was inspired to become a professional truck driver because he sincerely loves driving and being outdoors. Martineau has fond memories of accompanying his father on road trips when he was a child. He regards his Wall of Fame induction as a “great accomplishment.” He considers being patient as a good skill set to have in his profession. He has logged over 34 years as a driver, with nearly 21 of those years coming with the company.
Martineau enjoys being with his family when not working, which includes grandchildren and great grandchildren. He likes playing hockey, bowling and golfing.
Dave Swan
A truck driver for 34 years (24 of those with the company), he served two years in the Royal Canadian Navy. He attributes his success in part to being real careful when driving a tractor-trailer, and views his induction as a recognition of skill.
They each have now attained Diamond Class status as part of Penske’s Premier Driver Recognition Program that honors the best drivers among the company’s more than 5,000 truck drivers in North America. There are three program classes, correlating with the number of years of safe driving without an accident: Diamond (20 years), Platinum (15 years) and Gold (10 years).
Their inductions came at an awards ceremony in Reading, Pennsylvania, where the company headquarters are located.
“It is remarkable to induct another Diamond Class to our Wall of Fame,” stated Marc Althen, Penske Logistics president. “These drivers are the best of the best and they serve as an inspiration to the 5,000 truck drivers that are servicing our customers safely each and every day.”
