Join the Windsor Essex Community Foundation February 12-17 as we celebrate Random Act of Kindness Week!
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) has announced Random Act of Kindness Week (RAK Week) to Windsor-Essex County happens February 12-17, and invites everyone in our community to join the annual RAK Week celebration.
The message for Random Act of Kindness Week® is simple: “Kindness Matters.” February 12-17 is a chance for us to remind each other why we love our community and show each other kindness and compassion!
The WECF encourages individuals, groups, schools, businesses, and organizations to help create a more empathetic and connected community by spreading kindness to others. You can do something as simple as holding a door open for someone or as elaborate as preparing, delivering, and serving meals to the under-privileged, with no expectation of receiving anything in return other than bringing a smile to someone’s face and the hope that the recipient of your kindness will then do something nice for someone else.
The WindsorEssex Community Foundation is proud to share some of the things we are doing to celebrate Random Act of Kindness Week:
- The WECF will once again be holding our annual colouring contest for RAK Week. Teachers and their students from both the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board and the Greater Essex County District School Board have been invited to take part in the colouring contest!
- A “Kindness on Display” project is underway in local secondary schools, with students encouraged to create a post-it note wall where messages of kindness can be posted for all to see.
- Kindness Kits have been distributed to Random Act of Kindness Ambassadors, or “RAKtivists”, with instructions for how to amplify the message of RAK Week throughout our community.
- The WECF is again partnering with VON to deliver over 250 cookies through their Meals on Wheels Program.
If you are taking part in RAK Week we would like to share the good work you are doing on our social media channels so make sure to use #RAKDay #RAKWEEKYQG #RAKDayWindsorEssex and tag us @WECFoundation on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram!
We encourage all of you who want to participate but need some ideas to visit www.wecf.ca to get you started! Let’s show our community that kindness counts! About Random Act of Kindness Day Random Act of Kindness Day is a nation-wide celebration of kindness promoting a ‘pay it forward’ movement in the community.
