We Are One Lunch Program Launches Second Test Pilot

We Are One Lunch Program, Inc. returned to Roseville Public School February 18-21, 2025 for their 2nd school lunch test pilot in Windsor along with their newest strategic partners, The Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor (hub and training facility) and Gordon Food Service (premier food partner).

The funding for this pilot was graciously raised by CIBPA Windsor and their partners, Gordon Food Service, Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor, Nico Taverna, Bacchus Ristorante, and Tony Blaks Union Bakery.

We Are One completed its first Windsor pilot at Roseville Public School, from Feb. 20, 2024, until Mar. 29, 2024. On April 1, 2024, the Federal Government announced its commitment of $1 billion over five years to implement a national school food program. Ontario formerly signed an agreement with the Federal Government on November 22, 2024, for $108 million of that funding over 3 years. Canada’s evidence of food insecurity is growing fast and there are signs that the food-banking system is reaching its absolute limit.

The We Are One Lunch Program, Inc. is a social enterprise model providing a sustainable way out of Canada’s food insecurity problems, by simultaneously feeding Canadian elementary school children and creating jobs within each community. They collaborate with educational institutions, government agencies, and local communities to design, implement, and sustain a comprehensive and nutritious national school lunch program.

Through innovative solutions, strategic partner engagement, and a commitment to the well-being of our nation’s youth, they aim to ensure every student has access to healthy and balanced meals, promoting their academic success, overall health, and future well-being. Learn more about them and advocate for this as a permanent addition to our community to your local, provincial, and federal representatives.
