Adopt A Family – 800 FAMILIES SEEK SANTA CLAUS THIS CHRISTMAS

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation is once again appealing to the generosity and giving spirit of our community as over 800 families that the Children’s Aid Society provides services to, seek a way to bring the goodness of the season into their hearts and their homes.

There are many ways to Adopt-a Family. If you wish to shop, a “wish list” will be provided to you. As well, if time curtails you from participating in that way, gifts of cash so our volunteers can do the shopping are very welcome. Charitable receipts are provided for financial donations. The average cost of sponsoring a family is $300.

The annual Holiday Program of the Children’s Aid Foundation has made the Yuletide Season a special time for families for over twenty five years. Without the kindness of individuals, organizations and businesses of our area, many children, youth and their parents would have little to celebrate. Tiffany who received support from the program some years ago recalls;

“As I was looking around the dinner table with the holidays drawing near, gazing at the laughter and joy of my children, I was filled with thanks for all that we have. We started talking about when I was growing up. My sisters and I didn’t have a lot, especially at Christmas. I shared with them about how the Children’s Aid sponsored us one magical Christmas. The memories of coming down those stairs and seeing a tree and gifts where the evening before there was nothing still brings tears to my eyes. As we continued to talk, my son indicated that he would love to do this to help another family who may not be as fortunate as we are today. With the holiday’s upon us, we are looking forward to touching the lives of a family much as mine was so many years ago.”

To fully capture the spirit of the Season, a call to our Holiday Program Hotline, 519-252- 1171, ext. 3360 will enable you to “Write A Child’s Story” this Christmas.
