ON LOCATION WITH BIZ X FOR AMHERSTBURG’S ART CRAWL SUMMER 2024

In the air, on land, Biz X is everywhere!

In this installment, we feature a very creative event on Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21, 2024 in the town of Amherstburg . . . the 2nd annual Art Crawl.

Building on the success of the previous year, the foundation has now been set for the ever improving annual event in one of southwestern Ontario’s most beautiful and historical towns.

The Art Amherstburg Society is a not for profit organization based in the town of Amherstburg. They are dedicated to celebrating all forms of the art, fostering creativity and bringing the community together.

Their family and pet friendly accessible event was free for everyone to attend and volunteers provided narration for the guided tour which meandered through Art Alley, into the Navy Yard Park ending up at Gibson Gallery. Visitors were able to experience a world painted with passion (note some murals, photos and paintings can still be viewed throughout the year at certain locations. So don’t worry if you missed the crawl as there are still opportunities to view the artwork.).

This year’s event included artists, free art lessons, contests and more.

Everjonge Homes was the title sponsor with the new Hotel STRY, the headquarters of the crawl. The Dan Gemus Real Estate Team was also a proud sponsor as was media sponsor, the River Town Times.

Local musicians, the Rivertown Dance Academy and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet were on hand to entertain guests.

A host of volunteer guides helped assist with tours providing the crowds with a lot of historical information in addition to information regarding the art on display.

Among the notable volunteers were: Meg Reiner from the Marsh Historical Collection; Bethany D’Alimonte, Owner of Musicland Amherstburg and from Art Windsor Essex (co-presenter and sponsor), Nadja Pelkey, Digital Initiatives and Partnership Coordinator and Laura Service, Head of Development & Marketing.

The Beatles themed mural created by local artist Dennis White behind Musicland is also highlighted in the video.

With the close of this successful event, Richard Peddie, Chairperson of the Amherstburg Art Crawl informs Biz X plans are already underway for the 2025 Art Crawl.

“Supporting the arts can be a game changer for communities large and small,” states Peddie. “They positively impact economies while increasing creativity and community pride. They are a powerful way to make communities even better.”
